If you come to Buenos Aires, a performance at the Teatro Colón, Argentina’s central Opera House is a must. Built in 1857 and recently renovated, it is arguably considered one of the top 3 opera venues in the world. This past year I had the pleasure to see the ballet Carmen, which also served as inspiration for the 2012 collection of one of Argentina’s top fashion designers, Pablo Ramírez. Ramírez held a dramatic runway show in the gilded, palatial halls of the Colón, filling his runway with designs influenced by everything Spanish: Majas, Flamenco dancers, Picadors and Toreros.
